| I am inspired to compel you to pause and really consider the story of life contained in single moments and mundane objects. Although figures are selmdom present in my work, evidence of their time in a specific space emerges. I want to move you into a painting asking questions: whose afternoon nap resulted in that crushed pillow; what ancient mariner spent his life fishing from that derelict boat; whose hands shaped that pottery? These small moments are often lost in the rush of life; I find joy in freezing these instants for further examiniation. |
